acc to function there are 4 type of sentences-

1-declarative- it makes a statement. eg-i like coffee.

structure - subject + verb ( I + like)

2- interrogative- asks a question. eg- do i like coffee?

structure- (wh-word) /auxiliary verb+ subject + verb ( do + i + like )

3- imperative- gives a command. eg- don't give her coffee

4- exclamatory- expresses a strng emotion or a feeling. eg. what a liar he is!

structure-exclamatory words/ wh-words(+ adjective/adverb) + subject + verb

acc to structure

- simple-A simple sentence consists of one independent clause. eg I like coffee

-Compound Sentence

A compound sentence is two (or more) independent clauses joined by a conjunction or semi-colon. eg I like coffee and Mary likes tea.

-Complex Sentence

A complex sentence consists of an independent clause plus a dependent clause. eg We missed our plane because we were late.

-Compound-Complex Sentence Structure

A compound-complex sentence consists of at least two independent clauses and one or more dependent clauses. eg John didn't come because he was ill so Mary was not happy.
