Explain the sign of convention for reflection in sperical mirror

Sign Convention for Spherical Mirror: ... Sign is taken as – (negative) from pole of a spherical mirror towards object along the principal axis. This means sign is always taken as – (negative) in front of a spherical mirror.

The object is always placed on the left of the lens ,all distance parallel to the principal Axes are measured from the optical centre


The distance measure to the right of optical Centre are taken to be positive while those measured to the left are taken to be negative


Distance perpendicular to the principal axis and about it are taken to be positive


Distance perpendicular to the principal axis and below it are taken to be negative


The focal length of a convex lens is positive while that of a concave lens is negative.
