The Bedford Level Experiment was done to find out if the earth was a sphere or a plane. Three poles were built at an equal distance from each other, and looked at from far away. It was observed that the middle pole looked slightly taller than the other two. Hence, this experiment helped to prove that the Earth is spherical in shape.
