Decomposers are the micro organisms who decomposes organic remains of animals and plants. They are situated at the top of the food chain.
Not only microorganisms are decomposers but also vulture. It feeds on dead remains of animals. Although it's population now a days depleted due to consumption of diclofenac medicine by livestock to enhance milk production.

Significance of decomposers in ecosytem are:
- Decomposers like (fungi and bacteria) help in recycling of nutrients.
- They feed on the dead and decaying bodies of plants and animals
- They return the nutrients back to the soil and thus help in making this ecosystem stable.
