Meiocytes are the specialised cell present in sexually reproductive organisms(diploid). These meiocytes undergo meiotic division to produce male and female gametes that carry only one set of chromosomes and thus helps in maintaining the chromosomal no. of the organisms ie. 23 pairs(total 46 chrm.)
