Answer:

Similarity and difference in two events, adding NaOH to water and adding CaO to water.

Explanation:

1. Two events are -

A) Adding NaOH to water

B) Adding CaO to water

Similarity:

2. When NaOH is added to the water, it dissolves in the water.

3. As a result of this, heat is released also the temperature of water is increased.

4. As here heat is released out, it is an exothermic reaction.

5. When solid CaO is dissolved in water, Ca(OH)₂ is formed.

6. In the formation of Ca(OH)₂, a large amount of heat is released.

7. Hence, this reaction is also an exothermic reaction.

8. Also, there is formation of only one product from two reactants in these two reactions. Hence, these are combination reactions.

Chemical Equations:

A) Adding NaOH to water:

NaOH (s) + H₂O ⟶ NaOH (aq) + Heat

B) Adding CaO to water:

CaO (s) + H₂O ⟶ Ca(OH)₂ (aq) + Heat

Difference:

1. Aqueous solution of NaOH is a strong alkali.

2. Aqueous solution of CaO is a weak alkali.
