Explain the similarity and difference in two events,namely adding sodium hydroxide to water and adding calcium oxide to the water..

when sodium hydroxide is added to water the Na(OH)2 and hydrogen gas is formed when calcium oxide is added to water the Ca(OH)2 is occurred and in 1 st reaction gas is formed and in 2 nd reaction no gas is formed
