Reactions :-

1) When Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) added to Water ⇒

NaOH + H₂O ----→ Na⁺ + OH⁻ + H₂O + Heat

So this reaction is an Exothermic reaction because heat is produce in it.

2) When Calcium oxide (CaO) added to water ⇒CaO + H₂O ------→ Ca(OH)₂ + Heat

So the reaction is an exothermic because lots of heat produce in it .

Explanation:-

A) SIMILARITY B/W THESE TWO REACTION

i) Both reactions are Highly Exothermic, As heat is released in both of them.

ii) Both reaction formed Strong Alkali solution.

B) DIFFERENCE B/W THESE TWO REACTIONS

i) Sodium Hydroxide Dissociates to form Na⁺ and OH⁻ ion . While Calcium oxide added water to form Calcium Hydroxide which further dissociates.

ii) NaOH is a monoacidic base. and CaO is a Di-Acidic base.
