Photosynthesis releases fundamentally all the oxygen via the Light-dependent reactions by the oxygen-evolving complex embedded in the thylakoid membrane of the chloroplasts. There photons drive what in effect is a form of electrolysis of water.

The hydrogen is used to drive the synthesis of NADPH (which is mostly, but not exclusively, used in the Light-independent reactions), and is also used to create a proton gradient that drives the synthesis of some ATP.
