Explain the statement "virtual image is just an illusion."

The virtual image considered to be an illusion because the virtual image can not be obtained on a screen and it can be seen only by looking into a mirror or lens. And also a virtual image is formed when light rays coming from an object only appear to meet at a point (but do not actually meet).
