★ Viruses are considered the link between living and non - living because only when they are inside a living cell do they fulfill the criteria of being regarded as living entities , and when they are outside , they act as non - living entities.

★ viruses are microscopic bodies which can reproduce only inside the cell of some host organisms , like a bacterium, plant or animal ; however they can be crystallized , when they are outside a living organism.
