The Hemadpanti sculptures found in Hemadpanti temples in Maharashtra, North Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, was a typical style of temple architecture, during the 1200 AD. It is an architectural style, named after its founder Hemadpant (1259 – 1274 AD), who the Prime Minister in the court of Yadavas of Devagiri.
This style of architecture used black stone and lime in construction of temples.
The Gondeswar temple in Nashik District, Ananda Nagnath temple in Hingoli District, Shiv Mandir at Ambarnath etc. are examples.
Hemadpanti temples are one of the oldest temples in Goa and they are dedicated to Lord Shiva.
These temples are small and designed with gray black talc soap stones.
You cannot find any binding between these stones and they are fitted with the perfect cutting and precision.
These stones can keep the temples cool during hot summer and you can find four pillars at the entrance of the temple.
These pillars are the symbols of Kadamba rulers.
