I personally believe that the Government has not taken any steps to increase direct government employment per-se. As the government believes that the government departments are already over staffed. In fact the public clamour of unemployment is for the government sector with the attendant inherent built in benefits to the employees in general whether in central governement or in state governement sector ? We are told that several thousand vacancies exist in central and state police cadres, railways and defense establishments but these are not being filled up ?

In general the employment in private business sector and services sector has expanded as per noticeable increase in consumer requirements for goods and services. The employment here is skill based and on result oriented services or production based services. May look at the vast employment potential that has been unleashed by marketing companies like Amazon and Flipkart, Cab services like OLA and UBER and MEGA Cabs. Mobile telephone and electronic goods and associated services, hospitality and health services.
