It has taken the first step directly from proportionality theorem.
Now, you know AD/DB = AE/EC. And you have to prove AB/AD = AC/AE.
Think about how you get it from the first step. You know AB = AD+BD and similarly AC= AE+EC. You will get the desired result by first taking reciprocal and then add 1.
Similarly, for the second part, you just need to add 1.

by bpt cant we directly say AB/AD = AC/ AE... directly as they are ratios..m
and it is said that if a line intersects parallel its ratio is equal even if we take in any combination...in this are we just proving whish we already know?!
