Ho Chi Minh Trail formed the backbone of the Vietnamese in their struggle for freeedom, unification and during US attack.

It means an immense network of footpaths and roads used by the Vietnamese, to transport men and materials from North to South.

Most of the Trial was outside Vietnam in neighbourin Laos and Cambodia with branch lines extending into South Vietnam.

The Trail had support bases, and hospitals along the way.

At times and in some parts supplies were transported in trucks but mostly it was used by women porters. These women carried loads on their backs or on their bicycles.
