-plastids occur only in plants and algae cells but mitochondria are found in all eukaryotic cells.
- main function of mitochondria is the cell respiration but plastids involve in many functions such as storage of starch and lipids.


- similarity is both can produce their own copies by division.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MITOCHONDRIA AND PLASTIDS:

*PIGMENT: in mitochondria pigments are absent and In plastids different pigments found.

*INNER MEMBRANE : in mitochondria inner membrane is inwardly many folds called crystae. in plastids inner membrane having no folds.

*CHAMBERS:mitochondria is divided by complete chambers. plastids having no chambers.

*POSITION :mitochondria found in plants as well as in animals.plastids are only found in plants.

SIMILARITY BETWEEN THEM:

they both have their own DNA and protein.
