The nephron is the most basic and functional unit of the kidneys.

Structure:
1. Glomerulus - Filters the blood.
2. Tubule/Renal Tubule/Kidney Tubule - Provides a passage for wastes, excess water, and other substances to move out from Glomerulus.

Functions:
1. Filters blood by removing excess water, wastes, and other materials.
2. Ingest substances like sodium, potassium or phosphorus into blood whenever they are in low supply.
