neuron is the basic structural and functional unit of the entire nervous system.

It consists of cyton/cell body/soma,dendrites,nucleus,Axon and Axon ends.

Neuron or nerve cell is the longest cell in human body approximately 1 m in length.

They help in transferring of messages to brain.

First of all, the chemical substances near the dendritic points are converted into electric signals/electrical impulse and these signals are carried to the brain through a chain of chemical reactions between Neurons.
