Explain the structure and working of an electric bell.

The construction of an electric bell consists of a gong, an electromagnet, a soft iron rod and a contact screw. The working of an electric bell: When the current passes through the electromagnet, it becomes magnetized which helps to attract the armature and after this the hammer raids and attract the armeture.

Structure - The Electric bell consist of -

1. Gong 2. electromagnet 3. hammer 4. soft iron armature

Working - when we press switch the electric current starts flowing in the circuit.

The electromagnet starts producing the magnetic field which attracts the iron

strip towards it as a result the hammer strikes the gong and sound is produced .

now as we release the switch , the electric current supply stops as a result the

iron strip come back to its initial position and bell stops ringing .
