Answer:

A nephron is the structural and functional unit of the human kidney.

It is composed of two parts:-

1. Malphigian Corpuscles:

It further consists of two parts-

a) Glomerulus- The afferent arteriole that comes to the nephron containing waste products gets divided into many small fine capillaries. These capillaries form a bunch inside the lumen cavity of Bowman's capsule. This capillary bunch is called Glomerulus.

b) Bowman's Capsule- It is a double-layered cup like structure. This structure is called Bowman's Capsule.

2. Renal tubules:

It consists of three parts:-

a) Proximal Convoluted Tubule (PCT):- It is the portion after Bowman's Capsule and opens into Loop of Henle. Its main function is selective reabsorption of substances.

b) Distal Convoluted Tubule (DCT):- It is the posterior part of nephronic tubule. Its main function is tubular secretion.

c) Henle's Loop:- It contains ascending and descending limb.
