The basic structure of bacteriophage is,
It consists of:-
Head: It is in the form of bipyramidal hexagonal prism and consists of proteinaceous membrane enclosing a core of Aural DNA.
Neck: head-tail connector consisting of a collar or a disc and several whiskers.
Tail: narrow cylindrical part having a central hollow core, a protein sheath surrounding the core, a sheath connected to head by a collar and at distal end to a hexagonal basal plate and pins at the corners of basal plate.
