Bar chart is a chart that represents categorical data with rectangular bars with heights proportional to values they represent.  

Bars can be plotted vertically/horizontally.  

Vertical bar chart is called line graph.

Bar graph shows comparisons between discrete categories.  

Some bar graphs present bars clustered in groups showing values of more measured variables.
