-DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) is made up of molecules called nucleotides (named according to the nitrogenous base it contains.). Each nucleotide contains a phosphate group, a sugar group, and a nitrogen base.

-The phosphate group of one nucleotide bonds covalently with the sugar molecule of the next nucleotide, and so on, forming a long polymer of nucleotide monomers.

-The four types of nitrogen bases are adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G),  and cytosine (C). The order of these bases is what determines DNA's instructions, or genetic code.

-DNA is made up of double strands.

-Structural unit of DNA is the gene.
