Answer:

The outer ear is called the pinna and is made of ridged cartilage covered by skin. Sound funnels through the pinna into the external auditory canal, a short tube that ends at the eardrum (tympanic membrane).

Answer:-

The structure of human ear can be divided into three parts :-

(i) The Outer Ear :- The outer ear consists of the pinna and ear canal . Pina is a part which is visible from outside. Also , visible in the opening of ear canal which is about 2cm long. The function of the outer ear is to guide sound waves to the middle ear.

(ii) Middle Ear:- The middle ear is separated from the ear canal by a tightly stretched membrane called the eardrum or tympanic membrane. Beyond it like three interconnected bones called the hammer and anvil and stirrup. The function of the middle ear is to peak up amplify and transmits sound wave to the inner ear.

(iii) Inner Ear :- The inner ear consists of liquid- filled coiled tube called cochlea , which is shaped like a snail. This tube is connected to the stirrup . The cochlea has a special sensory cells called hair cells which are so called because of the hair like structure that stick out of them. The hair cells are connected to the auditory nerve which is connected to the brain.
