Structure of microsporangium :

In a tranverse section,a typical microsporangium appears near circular in outline. It is generally surounded by four walls layers - the epidermis, endothecium, middle layers and the tapetum. The outer three walls layers perform the function of protection and help in dehiscence of another to release the pollen. The imner most layer is the tapetum. It nourishes the develpoing pollen grains.Cells ofthe tapetum posses dense cytoplasm and generallt have more than one nucleus.
