Microsporangium is the male reproductive part.

Transverse section of microsporangium shows 4 wall layers; epidermis endothecium, middle layer and tapetum.

The outer three layers provide protection and help in dehiscence of anther to release pollen.

Cells of tapetum posses dense cytoplasm and have more than one nucleus.
