PLASMA MEMBRANE:

->Cell membrane or plasma membrane is made by proteins and lipids.

FUNCTIONS:

->It gives shape to the cell

->Gives proteins to the cell

->Seperates the inner contents of the cell from external environment

->Helps in entry and exit of certain substances.This property is called SEMI PERMEABILITY (or) SELECTIVE PERMEABILITY

->It helps in maintaining the volume of the cell and produces TURGER PRESSURE in plant cells against cell wall.

->cell membrane is in all the organisms.

->cell membrane bounds the cell organelles

->Cell membrane is found in eukaryotic as well as in prokaryotic cells.

Plasma membrane consists of both lipids and proteins. The fundamental structure of the membrane is the phospholipid bilayer, which forms a stable barrier between two aqueous compartments.
