in small intestine there are finger like finger like projections called villi. When food reaches villi it increases it's surface area ,so that large food can be absorbed by it.

Somin: How can we co relate it woth the circulatory system?

To get a big surface area, the inside wall of the small intestine is lined with tiny villi. These stick out and give a big surface area. They also contain blood capillaries to carry away the absorbed food molecules. ... The blood supply has a lower concentration of food molecules and so diffusion occurs quickly.

Somin: From capillaries where the blood go?
Manahilk: Blood Capillaries. ... Capillaries are the smallest of the body'sblood vessels. They are only one cell thick, and they are the sites of the transfer of oxygen and other nutrients from the bloodstream to other tissues in the body; they also collect carbon dioxide waste materials and fluids for return to the veins.
