◆ Structure of Viruses -

  • Viruses are composed of nucleid acid genome coated by protein capsids. Together this is called as nucleocapsid.
  • According to shape, viruses are classified as helical, polyhedral or complex.
  • Viral genomes can be DNA or RNA.
  • Capsid is the protein coat around the virus which allows it to attach to host cells.
