Matrabhumi ka maan- This is a short story by Harikrishna Premi. This story is based on nationalism and patriotism.
One of the protagonist of this story, Maharana Lakha, the king of Sisodiyas of Mewar wants to rule over all his neighbouring states and thus asks his Senapati, Abhay Singh, to go and ask Rao Hemu to surrender his state, Boondi, to Mewar but the king refused. He said that he wants peace and collaboration from Mewar and will never surrender himself to it even if it requires a war.
Hearing the news, Maharana Lakha became quite angry and swore that he will attack and annex Boondi. At this, Charni, another character of the story, made him realise that he has made a big mistake by promising to attack Boondi. Now to complete his promise, a duplicate of Boondi's durg was made so that a war can be fought between the army men of Mewar only.
But the war became serious when Vir Singh, an army man of Mewar but a citizen of Boondi, along with my some of his Boondi friends started fighting with Mewar's army to protect their duplicate Boondi. At the end of the day, an explosion takes place and Vir Singh with his friends die.
This made Maharana Lakha feel guilty and he asked for forgiveness from the dead body. Meanwhile, Rao Hemu also enters the scene and extended a hand of friendship towards Lakha and they all together gave tribute to brave Vir Singh.

Answer:

Maharana desired Bundi's submission in order to maintain Rajput power unity in Ekki. As a result, the Mewar king Maharana Lakha sent a message from his general Abhay Singh to Rao Hemu of Bundi, requesting that Bundi accept Mewar's subjugation so that the Rajputs' unorganised power could be organised and united.

Rao, however, declined the offer, stating that Bundi respects the Maharanas but wishes to remain independent. They want to discipline love rather than power. He can respect the Maharanas by remaining independent and self-sufficient, but he dislikes serving under anyone. Rana Lakha attacked Bundi after hearing this. But because Maharana Lakha, the ruler of Mewar, is forced to flee in this battlefield of Neemra after being defeated by Rao Hemu of Bundi, he curses himself and refuses to attend the public meeting.

They now want to defeat the Hadas by any means possible and wash away the stigma on their foreheads, so Maharana storms in and vows not to take food or water until he enters the fort of Bundi.

Now that Maharana Lakha had taken an angry vow, Charini advised Maharana to fulfil his promise by destroying the fake fort. Maharana accepted this offer because he wanted to punish the Hadas for their arrogance while also keeping their fast.
