Dylan Thomas was affected by Romantics particularly in the treatment of nature in his poems. As a matter of first importance he utilized characteristic symbolism / natural imagery in his poems. He is a writer of ocean and wood or we can say that he is a nature artist. The majority of his poems contain nature symbolism.

He uses symbols and images of nature to express his feelings and thoughts about death and childhood.  According to him the purpose of the images is the create a feeling of love towards life.
