Explanation:

The Subsidiary Alliance System was “Non-Intervention Policy” used by Lord Wellesley who was the Governor-General (1798-1805) to establish the British Empire in India. According to this system, every ruler in India had to accept to pay a subsidy to the British for the maintenance of the British army.

Answer:

The Subsidary Alliance was a form of overtaking the kingdoms of the local rulers.

The expansion policy had the rules:

* The British Army would keep some of their forces in the king's kingdom which the king wold have to give money to spend on maintaining it. The army in turn would protect the kigdom from any attacking forces.

* The king cannot have alliances with any of the exterior forces or other kingdoms.

* An official of the company would stay at the king's palace and attend the court. This gave the British access to all the information and plans of the king.

* If the king failed to pay the money, a part of his territory would be annexed.
