The Varna system refers to the Brahmanic philosophy of classifying society into classes. The Varna system divides society into four varnas: Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras.
❖ Brahmins engaged in spiritual education and teaching.
❖ Kshatriyas perform all forms of public services including administration, maintenance of law and order and defence.
❖ Vaishyas engaged in commercial activities.
