In order to separate common salt we follow the following steps:

- First of all we grind the rock which contains the common slat in it  

-  Then we mix it in water to dissolve the salt. Salt will readily dissolve in water  

- Now comes the distillation step in which the solution will be passed through the filter paper and it separates the rock as a filtrate.

- Evaporation is the step which is use to boil the water which lefts behind crystals of salt.

- This way common salt can be separated.
