Explain the temporary and permanent methods to be adopted for kidney failure (ESRD) persons
Answers
Answer:-
Temporary method for ESRD persons is Dialysis called artificial kidney. Permanent method is transplantation of kidney.
Dialysis:
i)Blood is taken out from the main artery, mixed with an anticoagulant, such as heparin and then pumped in to dialyzer.
ii)In dialyzer blood flows through cellophone tubes and these tubes are embeded in the dialyzing fluid.
iii)The membrane separates the blood flowing inside the tube and dialyzing fluid.
Kidney transplantation:
i)A functioning kidney is used in transplantation from a donor preferably a close relative.
ii)The kidney that is received by a recipient must be a good match to his body, to minimize the changes of rejection by the immune system of the recipient.
iii)Now a days the process of organ donation helps a lot for kidney failure patients.

Temporary method to be adopted for Kidney failure person :
- Kidneys are vital organs for survival.
- Due to infections, very high blood pressure may cause improper functioning of kidneys.
- Due to this, hands and feet may swell giving much pains.
- So, there is a need to use dialysis machine to such patients.
- Dialysis machine is used to filter the blood of a person whose kidneys are damaged.
- Dialysis machines work on the principle of diffusion of solutes through a semipermeable membrane. Permanent method to be adopted for Kidney failure person :
- Kidney transplantation is the permanent method to be adopted for kidney failure person.
- It is first discovered by Dr. Charles Hufnagal in the year 1954 at Washington in USA.
- Modern clinical procedures have increased the success rate of such complicated technique.
