The ten percent law as per to biology states that the energy transferred to the next trophic level in a food chain is 10% of the energy taken by the animal in the previous trophic level.
For example,
let us consider a food chain:
GREEN PLANT> RABBIT> FOX> LION
Here, the energy absorbed by green plant from sun is 1%, but energy received by rabbit from the plant, fox from the rabbit and lion from the fox is 10%.
Say, if sun provides 1000 J energy then plant will get 1% i.e. 10 J.
Rabbit will get 10% of 10 J i.e. 1 J and lion will get 10% of 1 J i.e. 0.1 J.
{HERE 'J' STANDS FOR 'JOULE'}
