Fertilisation:
- The process of fusion of male gamete and female gamete is called fertilisation.
- The gametes are haploid in nature and they are fused to produce zygote which is diploid in nature.
Fertilisation in human beings:
- In humans, the male gamete is sperm which is produced in testes male sex organ.
- During intercourse of male and female organism, copulation takes place in which the male sex sends sperms directly into the reproductive tract of female.
- The sperm and egg fuses in female organisms and formed into zygote.
- The zygote develops into embryo and travels to uterus through fallopian tube or oviduct.
- When embryo is embedded on uterine lining, then the female human being is termed as pregnant.
- The embryo get food and oxygen through uterine lining and develops into fetus/foetus after eight weeks.
- Later, it develops ears, nose, eyes and finger.
- After 280 days, then baby is given birth through vagina of mother organism.
