Hard water has dissolved minerals in it such as calcium,magnesium and others,which form hard deposits in pipes,and can stain clothes in the washing machine. If your shower head gets clogged,it’s because of hard water deposit buildup. A simple remedy is vinegar,which dissolves the deposits.EXAMPLE:
carbon dioxide + water carbonic acid
CO2(g) + H2O(l) H2CO3(aq)
Soft water,on the other hand,has far fewer dissolved minerals,and is ideal for washing clothes. The minerals in hard water are beneficial for health,however,as they supply minerals like calcium and magnesium the body needs.
