overloading when excessive current flows through the electric circuit.it happens when too many appliances are connected to the same socket or when the live wire and neutral wire come in direct contact with each other.

OVERLOADING- if too many appliances of high power rating are switched on at the same time they draw an extremely large current from circuit known as overloading
SHORT CIRCUITING- if the plastic insulation of live wire and neutral wire gets torn away then two wire touches each other.this touching of live and neutral wire is known as short circuiting
