Oxidization Reaction :- It is a reaction in which a substance gains Oxygen and looses Hydrogen.

Reduction Reaction :- It is a reaction in which a substance loses Oxygen and gains Hydrogen.

------------------------------

Oxidizing agent gains electrons and Reducing agent loses electrons in a reaction.

-----------------------------

Example :-

in this reaction,

MnO4 + SO3 -----> Mn + SO4

S is the reducing agent

Mn is the oxidizing agent.

----------------------------

in other words we can say that, oxidizing agent is the substance which is providing Oxygen for the reaction.
