Answer:
Parasitism is a nonmutual relationship between two organisms in which one benefits at the expense of the other. In other words one is benefitted and other one is harmed.
There are two types of parasites affecting living organisms:
- ectoparasites (living on the surface of host)
- endoparasites (living in the body of host).
Explanation:
- An ectoparasite is a parasite that lives externally on another animal, but does not kill it. Common examples of ectoparasites include fleas, head lice and bed bugs.
- An endoparasites affects humans, cats, and dogs, among other wild animals. Some examples of endoparasites include Giardia lamblia , an anaerobic protozoan parasite which reproduces via binary fission. Another endoparasite is the hookworm, either Ancylostoma duodenale or Necator americanus, which infects humans.
