Plasmolysis is the process in which a cell lose water in a hypertonic solution.

A hypertonic solution is a solution in which it has a greater concentration of solutes than another solution.

Cytolysis is the reverse process of plasmolysis.

In cytolysis, the flow of water is towards the cell, but in plasmolysis, the flow of the water is opposite i.e. the water comes out of the cell.

For example, sea water dpositing salt in to the land in case of extreme flooding.
