Regeneration is a special case of fragmentation in which a mature organism when cut into different pieces due to some accident, then each part possess the capability to form a new and mature organism through process of development.

Regeneration is carried out by specialised cells.

These cells increase in number very quickly and make large number of cells

From this mass of cell, different cells undergo changes to become various cell types and tissue as in case of hydra.
