Based upon the number of embryonic layer present in the animal cell they are said to exhibit diploblastic and triploblastic organization.

Animal with two embryonic layer namely an external ectoderm and an internal endoderm, they are said to be diploblastic animals. Such organization is seen in animal belonging to phylum coelenterates.  

On the other hand, from phylum Platyhelminthes to chordates, they have an extra layer called mesoderm in between the ectoderm and endoderm layer and they are called as triploblastic animals.
