Explain the terms -
(a) Pitch. (b) least count of screw gauge.

Answer:

A. We know that our Screw Gauge has a nail in it. But, on the surface of that nail, there is a thread which is coiled around it. The distance between two coils is called a Pitch. In other words, it is the distance between 2 markings on the main scale.

B. The Least Count of Screw Gauge is the least point to which a screw gauge can measure upto. It is accurate till that point. For Eg: If the L.C. of a Screw Gauge is 0.001 mm, then it means that it can give us the measurement upto that point. It can measure any object upto that thickness.
