(a) The pitch of the screw is the distance moved by the spindle per revolution or it is the axial distance between adjacent threads on a screw.
(b) Least count of a measuring instrument is the smallest and accurate value the instrument can measure. Least count=pitch/number of division of thimble.
In case of screw gauge ,
5/50=0.01 mm.
there fore least count is 0.01mm or 0.001 cm.
