explain the terms analogous and homologous organ with example

\bold{\underline{Answer-}}

Those organs which have different basic structure or different basic design but have similar appearance and perform similar functions are called analogous organ .

The wings of an insect and the wings of a bird are analogous Organs.

The wings of an insect and a bird have different structure the insect have a fold of membranes and Wings which are associated with a few muscles whereas a skeleton of bones, flesh and features support birds wings but they perform the same function of flying.

Those organs which have the same basic structure or same basic design but different function are called homologous organ.

The forelimbs of human man and a lizard and homologous organ.

Both these organs have the same basic design of bones but they perform different function .The forelimbs of a human man are used for grasping where is the forelimbs of a lizard are used for running

Analogues Orgon

A part or organ having the same function as another, but of different evolutionary origin.

a chemical compound having a structure similar to that of another but differing from it in respect to a certain component; it may have similar or opposite action metabolically. Also spelled analog.

Example of analogue are structures range from wings in flying animals like bats, birds, and insects, to fins in animals like penguins and fish. Plants and other organisms can also demonstrate analogous structures, such as sweet potatoes and potatoes, which have the same function of food storage.

Homologues Orgon

Homologous Organs are those which are similar in their morphology, anatomy, genetics and embryology but dissimilar in their functions.

These structures are inherited from a common ancestor; they have similar developmental pattern in the embryos; they have the same type of bones, blood vessels, nerves, muscles etc. but they have to do dissimilar functions in different animals.

The forelimbs of higher vertebrates are examples of homologous organs. The forelimbs of a bird, whale, cat, a horse, a bat, mole, a monkey and man are doing different functions; but they have similar anatomy in all the animals.
