Displacement reaction is a chemical reaction in which a more reactive element displaces a less reactive element from its compound. Both metals and non-metals take part in displacement reactions. Example : Reaction of iron nails with copper sulphate solution.

Dear Student,

◆ Displacement reaction -

  • Reaction in which one element displaces another element from its compound is called displacement reaction.
  • Usually a highly reactive element displaces a less reactive element in the reaction.

● For example -

When copper sulphate is allowed to react with iron, copper is displaced by iron to form ferrous sulphate and copper.

CuSO4 + Fe --> FeSO4 + Cu

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
