The total path covered by an objects in given interval of time is called distance where displacements is change in body from initial to final positions. it does not depend on the path covered by body. it only depend on initial and final positions of the body. It is shortest distance between two points. Distance is scalar quantity. It has no direction where displacements is vector quantity. It has both magnitude as well as direction.
