Oxidation :

A chemical reaction which involves addition of oxygen or removal of hydrogen or loss is electrons.

Oxidising agents:

Substances which have the ability to oxidise other substances. They are also called as electron accept or so because they remove electrons from other substances.

For example : H2O2 , MnO4-,CrO3, Cr2O7 2-

An oxidizing agent, or oxidant, gains electrons and is reduced in a chemical reaction. Also known as the electron acceptor, the oxidizing agent is normally in one of its higher possible oxidation states because it will gain electrons and be reduced
